OUR MISSION
The Junior Service League of Woodstock is an organization of women committed to improving our community through volunteerism and fund-raising. Our purpose is to serve Cherokee County families by making a positive impact on their lives and their futures. Working together, we can “Make A Difference”.
HISTORY OF THE LEAGUE
The Junior Service League of Woodstock was established in 1990. The League reaches out to women of all ages, races, religions, and national origins who demonstrate an interest in and commitment to volunteerism. It is a non-profit organization that strives to improve the lives of Cherokee County residents by making a positive impact on their families and the betterment of their futures. Since its founding, the JSL of Woodstock has been fortunate enough to have hundreds of compassionate women dedicated to serving their community and making Cherokee County a better place to live.

Junior Service League General Committees Overview
| Charitable Donations: | Researches groups within the community needing and/or requesting monetary assistance. Committee presents information to the League from those requesting assistance, and recommends allocation of funds among those requesting assistance from the League’s fundraising efforts. |
| Member Communications: | Responsible for development and distribution of the monthly newsletter to the members, the formal membership directory and other mass mailings from the League. |
| Membership: | Responsible for increasing membership by organizing social events for prospective members. Orients and trains prospective members for becoming active members. Responsible for updating and maintaining membership and committee lists. |
| Public Relations: | Maintains relationships within the community that promote an informed and positive attitude about the League. Markets and advertises the League’s activities to the community. Committee sends press releases and other information to local publications to promote the work of the League. |
| Social: | Coordinates and plans social activities for member participation and prepares/disassembles the meeting room where the monthly meetings are held. |
| Special Projects: | Investigates project possibilities related to community needs. Works to increase awareness of community needs to League members. Prioritizes community needs and coordinates areas for volunteering based on those needs. |
| Sponsorship: | Coordinates area businesses to sponsor the League’s fundraisers. Secures sponsors for fundraising events throughout the year. |
MEETING INFO
General meetings are held the 3rd Tuesday of each month (September through May) at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church on Rose Creek Drive in Towne Lake. The meetings start at 7:00pm with the first 30 minutes reserved for social interaction and the formal meeting beginning at 7:30pm. Meetings last from 1½ to 2 hours (including the social portion).
Everyone is required to sign-in at the meetings. The sign-in table is at the entrance of the meeting room. The Specials Projects Volunteer sign-in sheets are located there as well as temporary name tags for provisional members and guests. The agenda for the evening’s meeting and other important information will also be available at the sign-in table.
